Dustin Lynn of Dukes of Chutney spins the daydream tones of “Who Are You” into a wandering, wondering video filmed across Los Angeles and Paris:

Greg Fox - By Virtue of Emptiness - Dir. by Johann Rashid

We’ve arrived both at the end and the beginning of our path to Greg Fox’s second solo album The Gradual Progression. To celebrate the day of its release, we’re sharing a new video for “By Virtue of Emptiness” directed by Johann Rashid, whose particular lens you may remember from our documentary on the making of Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe and Ariel Kalma’s We Know Each Other Somehow and Stellar OM Source’sLive.”

Rashid’s work on “By Virtue of Emptiness” is a visual representation of Greg’s individual and universal progression as a musician through personal and performative dream states and stages. The video features Maria Kim Grand (tenor sax) and Michael Beharie (nylon guitar), two artists that contributed to The Gradual Progression, alongside a slew of footage that Greg has captured over the years. Watch the video below:

Sugai Ken - UkabazUmorezU - "Wochikaeri To Uzume"

Ken made first contact with RVNG the winter of 2015. At that intersection, Ken had already released a pair of albums (2010’s ToKiShiNe and 2014’s Tada) and would share a brilliant third (last year’s On The Quakefish) before we arrived at the conclusion that our worlds should share a closer corner in the cosmos.

We shine a light on what we’ve been creating in that (deep) space with the October 20 release of UkabazUmorezU. Like dark shadows cast on corners and across quiet streets, UkabazUmorezU offers a new take on the old night that visits each day on time and without trace. The album exists beyond listening, its own sense and sensibility.

V/A - Peaceful Protest

Inspired by Moogfest’s invitation to soundtrack a meditation space during their festival in Durham, North Carolina, this weekend, we assembled a cast of our favorite musicians to produce palettes of peaceful sound to share there and beyond.

Peaceful Protest features six long-form compositions and recordings from Baltra, Kate NV, Zach Cooper, You’re Me, C. Lavender and Raica spread across three cassettes housed in a canvas package. NYC wordsmith and beacon of reason, Rafael Sanchez, composed a poem printed and included in the package.

To mark this effort on today’s first day of Moogfest, we are sharing “KAK HOW,” a portion of Moscow-based musician Kate NV’s contribution to Peaceful Protest:

We have copies available to purchase at Moogfest. If you won’t be there this weekend, don’t fret – you can buy from our webstore and Bandcamp, with all proceeds going to LGBTQ Center of Durham. Only 200 copies are made for this world.

Jacques Bon - Dawning Light

Jacques Bon motions through the day’s early energy of Dawning Light. True to the record’s title, Bon composed the four tracks for his debut EP on Beats In Space Records in the morning sun, reflecting and refracting the colors of daybreak from his compositions.
