Lucrecia Dalt - Anticlines - May 4, 2018
Lucrecia Dalt’s Anticlines, her sixth album and first on RVNG Intl., is a volume of bodily and geological substrates within poetic theory and sound. It is a place where skins and minerals dissolve and commingle, where gaseous subterranean leaks inflate lungs, where brain cavities echo interplanetary waves bent from passing through atmospheres.
A former geotechnical engineer from Colombia currently residing in Berlin, Dalt’s concern with boundaries and edges shape the lyrics and music of Anticlines. Paying careful attention to pace, breath, and texture, Dalt microtonally shifts the distance between speech and song while using traditional South American rhythms to support her contemporary electronic composition.
Berlin-based director Charlotte Collin visualizes the first offering from Anticlines, “Tar,” with the morphing and ghostly image of Dalt melting in and out of a limitless space. Drip into “Tar” via the video below:
Lucrecia will join Tune-Yards on select European dates next month before select solo shows in Berlin throughout April and May.
On behalf of Lucretia Dalt, a portion of the proceeds from Anticlines sales will be donated to Tierra Digna, an organization dedicated to the defense of Colombian communities affected by economic policies that violate human rights and devastate the environment, under Come! Mend!, an initiative bridging RVNG’s work and interest supporting non-profit organizations and charities.
