For their new Rewire EP, Blondes invite a proper crew of like-melted souls to remix selections from Swisher. Simian Mobile Disco, Huerco S., Claro Intelecto and Function redefine Sam Haar and Zach Steinman’s work in their respective expansive dance floor lexicons for this companion release to Blondes’ acclaimed sophomore album.

The Rewire EP presents three new perspectives on “Wire”, a shining example of Blondes’ distinct synth-washed approach to techno. Huerco S. regurgitates said synths into a heaving epic infused with voodooist repetition, remarkably unwashed compared to the marbled detail of Claro Intelecto’s sculptural sonics.

Function’s reduction of “Wire” recalls the stark mood of last year’s Incubation with a careful unfurling of elements within an arrangement that flirts with dancefloor tendencies. That aim is claimed and maimed by Simian Mobile Disco’s steel-cut remix of “Swisher”. Distilling the breadth of Blondes’ melodic passages into more narrow and drum-focused terrain, SMD break from the EP’s otherwise contemplative ventures with a version that cuts right to the floor.
