Secret Circuit – aka Los Angeles producer Eddie Ruscha – holds a séance to summon the spirit of the dance floor on Afterlife (BIS005), the lead single from the forthcoming Tactile Galactics album.
Secret Circuit’s second release for Beats In Space Records following last year’s Nebula Sphynx / Parascopic Rope 12” finds Ruscha working the arpeggiators and low-pass filters to a sequentially slavish but soulful effect, while introducing an entirely human element to the Secret Circuit skill set: vocals. “The voices echo in your soul, you feel them there. But are they really there,” Ruscha incants atop a billow of hazy delay at the top of the track.
Each 12″ from Beats in Space Records features original artwork in considerate and serial form. The fifth 12″ features artwork by Robert Beatty, the young Kentucky cyborg artist behind Three Legged Race and some of the most wasted album cover artwork ever. The 12″ packaging constructed by Will Work For Good features a removable vinyl BIS logo cling.
Secret Circuit’s Afterlife is available now on Beats In Space as a limited edition 12” and digitally. Tactile Galactics will be released April 30, 2013. More on that subject soon.
