Hieroglyphic Being & J.I.T.U. Ahn-Sahm-Buhl - "F**K The Ghetto / Think About Outer Space"

_MG_5869

Today we celebrate the release of Hieroglyphic Being & J.I.T.U. Ahn-Sahm-Buhl’s We Are Not The First, a cosmic collision of a caravan of spirits and players from all points on the experience spectrum. Copies of the eleven song epic are now shipping from the RVNG store.

Inspired by Jamal Moss’ state of (hieroglyphic) being and Rafael Sanchez’s cosmic escape directive, muliti-principled design studio Georgia oscillate between the mind and the environment to create a new visual space and retreat from the everyday for “Fuck The Ghetto / Think About Outer Space.” Watch the winged vid below:

If you’re local to / near New York City tonight, please join us at our home, Commend (172 Forsyth St. b/w Rivington and Stanton), to attend a live musical performance from Georgia + spoken word from Sanchez after a screening of their visual collaboration. Bring a vessel for complimentary green tea.

Join us at Commend this Friday October 30 to raise / praise the release of We Are Not the First, the 11 poem Epic forged by Hieroglyphic Being & J.I.T.U. Ahn-Sahm-Buhl.

We’ll also screen / celebrate the video for “Fuck the Ghetto / Think About Outer Space.” Directed by Georgia (Brian Close & Justin Tripp) and featuring vocals by Rafael Sanchez, the clip is an ecstatic admonishment of the prison of technology / the ghetto of the mind.

A live musical performance from Georgia + spoken word from Sanchez will provide a meal of melted tunes and tomes for your brain with complimentary green tea on the side.

@ 172 Forsyth between Stanton and Rivington, 7-9pm.

Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith - Bobbing Beams of Light

RVNGNL35 C Front

The three albums that Bobby Brown shared between 1972 and 1982 are known quantities inside and out of private press collector circles. In part because the albums (particularly his first, The Enlightening Beam of Axonda) are not extraordinarily uncommon, in part because the music each contains covers an emotional and spiritual terrain that is quite simply alien or otherworldly.

RVNG is ecstatic to share a new communication from Bobby with The Enlightening Beam of Bobby Brown. Available in limited edition cassette and art book, the Beam features a recording of Bobby and RVNG’s Matt Werth’s exchange at last year’s multi-dimensional residency in Berkeley, California, The Possible, along with original compositions from Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith and Austin Cesear performed and recorded on that same day.
