Frances Chang's been thinking bout confession is Out Now!

Frances Chang’s been thinking bout confession materializes in our world today.

Our journey with Frances began in February of 2023, when she sent a physical demo of her second album Psychedelic Anxiety to the RVNG PO box. The record quickly established itself among our favorites, Frances’ wildly inventive deconstruction of pop music being both deeply challenging and viscerally moving, each new listen a ritual bringing one closer to the intimate, inimitable core of her creative psyche.

By the time we began our correspondence, Psychedelic Anxiety was already shooting forward toward a release, which by Frances’ astrological accounts, was the intended alignment. Hailing from a punk / post hardcore background, Frances spent a majority of 2024 touring the record in DIY and community spaces, an experience that led her to begin work on a new album, one grounded in the present moment and place, a true life experience of the now, journalistic and imperfect

been thinking bout confession was, as Frances notes, “born out of an extended period of personal avoidance. It’s about exploring shame, unearthing forgotten skeletons from the closet.” Retuning to the piano, her primary instrument, and converting her writing desk into a shrine to the muses (poets and mystics alike), Frances made contact again with her deeper reason for making music. She abandoned a sense of self-betrayal that arose by living away from herself, and found comfort in keeping some things to herself.

What Frances did decide to share is magical, both sacred and sentimental. It’s music that tugs at your heart and expands your mind. Music that is truly, and wholly, its own.

Frances Chang’s been thinking bout confession is available now on translucent purple and classic black vinyl, CD (via Plancha) and digital editions.
