Frances Chang Shares Final Single "Bad zen"

“Bad zen” is the final offering from Frances Chang’s been thinking bout confession before her third album materializes in our world this Friday, August 21.

The first song written for been thinking bout confession, “Bad zen” is a restless undead evocation of the void and life after death, emblematic of what Chang describes as “vampire music.” The restrained synth-strings that guide the song’s first half eventually give way to formlessness, as Chang’s floating vocals unearth a death drive. a fully apocalyptic piece, “Bad zen” is a cipher for the album’s themes: death and rebirth, mystery and unknowing, fantasy and desire, the murky line between the Self and the Other.

Frances will join the chat for a special Bandcamp listening party this Thursday, August 20 at 1pm before heading out on a clutch of tour dates with Bill Callahan, winding through the West and landing back home in New York City for an album release show on Thursday, September 17 at Night Club 101. 

Frances Chang’s been thinking about confession is shipping now from RVNG HQ, and will be released wide this Friday on translucent purple and classic black vinyl, CD (via Plancha) and digital editions.
