We’ve arrived both at the end and the beginning of our path to Greg Fox’s second solo album The Gradual Progression. To celebrate the day of its release, we’re sharing a new video for “By Virtue of Emptiness” directed by Johann Rashid, whose particular lens you may remember from our documentary on the making of Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe and Ariel Kalma’sWe Know Each Other Somehow and Stellar OM Source’s “Live.”
Rashid’s work on “By Virtue of Emptiness” is a visual representation of Greg’s individual and universal progression as a musician through personal and performative dream states and stages. The video features Maria Kim Grand (tenor sax) and Michael Beharie (nylon guitar), two artists that contributed to The Gradual Progression, alongside a slew of footage that Greg has captured over the years. Watch the video below:

This labor day weekend, RVNG/Commend is joining efforts to support Houston. We’ll be collecting goods (mini toiletries, dental hygiene essentials, first aid items, pads & tampons, diapers, socks & underwear) to send via the New Hamilton Beach Civic Association. We’ll also be donating 10% of the weekend’s sales at Commend to Harvey relief. Thank you to our friends Rachel Barnhart (Soap Library) and Lauren Willson (who will be donating 100% of proceeds from her Salve sales in-store) for activating this effort!
After breathing life into Breadwoman at CTM Festival in Berlin & in the UK this past winter, Anna Homler & Steven Warwick will perform the music of Breadwoman this June at Pitchfork’s Northside Festival Showcase in Brooklyn, NY (6/11) and will open for Grouper at ‘Beyond The Gate’ in Chicago, IL (6/18).
Holly Herndon has been invited as the main support for Radiohead at their European shows later this month.
Holly will join Radiohead for the entirety of their sold out 8-date tour. Herndon’s critically acclaimed album Platform married emotional and political critique with innovative club music. The interactive and ecstatic experience of her live performance has now evolved into a group which includes the artists Colin Self and Mat Dryhurst. The trio plan to work on new Holly Herndon material, due later this year.
Holly Herndon will also be appearing at festivals in the UK, Europe and US this summer.
